Looking for shapes in the stones.
A stroll through the Rocar of Santa Coloma de Farners.
In Santa Coloma de Farners, during the 8th of may you will be able to participate in the Geolodía, an initiative in which you will be able to go in a geological field trip guided by a geologist. This field trip will be free and open to all public.
Each year the geolodía is held in each spanish provincia in sites of great geological interest. This year's edition in the region of Girona will be held in Santa Coloma de Farners and it will be called: Looking for shapes in the stones. A stroll through the Rocar of Santa Coloma de Farners.
This whole day is a celebration of the Earth Sciences through one of its most attractive facets: a field trip guided by geologists. In addition, this year, due to the current epidemiological situation arising from COVID, unlike previous editions of the Geolodia, the groups will be reduced and the walk and explanations will be provided by a single guide per group throughout the route.
The starting point will be the parking in the Castell de Farners and you should be there minimum 15 minutes before the departure of your chosen group.
The groups will depart in two time slots (9:30 and 11:30) when different groups will be formed in order to follow different itineraries.
Then, you will walk about 3 km through the open-air museum of granite forms that is the Rocar. Where the alteration of the rocks has resulted in fantastic geometries which have been named after animal or legends.
This is a completely free activity that will last around two hours, it's aimed to all ages. To participate, you must register in advance by filling out this form, before May 5 or until all available spots are filled.
