Casa de la Paraula visitors from July to December 2020
This past year has been out of the ordinary for everybody, all of our lives have changed and many aspects of our daily lives have been put on hold. All of this, obviously, has also been reflected in the number of tourists who have visited Santa Coloma de Farners.
Since the most strict lockdown ended, and we were able to start moving around the territory, 231 people visited the Casa de la Paraula for touristic consultations. If we observe the following graphic, we can see that the evolution of the number of visits, increased during the summer months, but with the end of summer, the worsening of the COVID-19 situation and the application of stricter restrictions, the number of visitors decreased very abruptly.

Most of these 213 visitors were national tourist who were doing domestic tourism: three quarters of the total were visitors from the region of Barcelona (154 visitors), a rather high volume, specially if we compare it with the visitors from the other regions of Catalunya. Most visitors from this region where from the city of Barcelona (89 visitors) but also from other towns like Sant Cugat del Vallès, Mataró o Gavà.
As for the region of Girona, most visitors were from the capital (26 visitors). It should be noted, however, that the residents of Santa Coloma de Farners (19 people, almost 10% of the total) also asked touristic questions at the Casa de la Paraula

Finally, it should also be noted that of the total of 213 tourist who passed by the Casa de la Paraula, almost half stayed to sleep in Santa Coloma (107 visitors). On the other hand, a large part of the visitors came with a companion (96 visitors), while the rest did it alone, with family or with friends.
Like we said at the beginning, the data recollected after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent lockdown have been heavily influenced by the social effects of the pandemic: people have travelled less. Nevertheless, those who did travel did it in destinations closer to their home. This trend has favored destinations like Santa Coloma de Farners, a town with large natural spaces where people living in more urban and congested places have been able to go to disconnect from their every day lives.
