The Consell Comarcal de la Selva has an agreement with the city council of Santa Coloma de Farners, according to which they compromise to promote different hiking and cycling itineraries that pass though the town as well as to do its maintenance. All of these trails represent a sum of more than 40 kilometers. The paths that pass through Santa Coloma and that are a part of the network Grans Camins de l'Aigua are the following ones:

During the year 2020, despite the adversities caused by the Gloria storm and the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Consell Comarcal de la Selva resolved the most urgent incidents and did everything that was possible to carry out the ordinary tasks of maintenance of the trails in order to preserve all the trails in an optimum condition.
Some tasks done were cutting branches, pruning and weeding, this has been done in 4 different points, when a trail became impassable due to vegetation; go over paint and track marks when there was an issue with the sign posts, throughout 2020 this had to be done in 29 occasions; pruning the surrounding area of a sign post when this one became hidden because of vegetation, which happened 3 times during the year; and changing the banners or replace the direction plates when there was a sign post in bad condition, which had to be done 3 times.
The Consell Comarcal de la Selva, highlights that 2020 was an exceptionally positive year in terms of the number of visits and downloads of the route files in Santa Coloma as well as in the whole region of La Selva. They claim that despite the lockdown, the number of downloads and visits have either been maintained compared to previous years or they have increased.
In the case of Santa Coloma the local trails that have received the most visits in the wikiloc profile of the Consell Comarcal are the Chapel of Farners trail (200 visits), which passes through the Camí Vell de Farners and the Water Trail which goes from the Sant Salvador Park to the spa Termes Orion and which is ideal to do make with the whole family (234 visits). In relation to the trails that are a part of the network of Grans Camins de l'Aigua, all the ones that pass through Santa Coloma have received a similar amount of visits and the one that stood out the most has been the Serrallonga trail, which is a part of the GR-1789 and which has received 397 visits.
